Gog & Magog Rules: Basic Creature Cards and Row Mechanics
Basic Creature Card Rules & Tactical Positioning
In the turn-based multiplayer tactical board and card game écosystem of Gog & Magog, Basic Creature Cards act as the core frontline unit architecture. Unlike items or spell classes, Basic Creatures occupy permanent slots on the battlefield grid and follow strict deployment mechanics:
Initial Resolution (Defensive Rank): Upon expenditure of required mana tokens, any Basic Creature card entered into play must be positioned in the **Defensive Rank** row by default. While located in this background row position, the unit is restricted to actions involving defense declarations or automatic counterattacks against incoming threats. This rank grants a stat modification of plus one (+1) defense point and minus one (-1) offensive point.
Line Shifting (Offensive Rank): During subsequent turns, according to the player's overarching combat strategy, the creature asset can execute a vertical line transition from the defensive row up into the **Offensive Rank** row. Once repositioned in the frontline row, the asset is granted the capability to launch active attacks and declare war loops. The offensive rank modifies stats by plus one (+1) attack point and minus one (-1) defense point.
Grid Max Cap: The board rules allow a maximum limitation of five (5) active creature assets (combining Basic Creatures and Creatures with Abilities) present on a player's field layout simultaneously.
When a player plays this type of card, it is placed in the defensive rank. In the following turn, the same card can be moved to the offensive rank to attack the opponent.
